Name Jacqueline Venus
Nickname damselfly
Location CEG London, Ontario
Interests Dollmaking, and all types of hand embroidery.
Comments I have been stitching ever since I can remember. My earliest stitching experiences involve stitching for the best dressed dolls in town, and then for myself.
I learned how to smock in the 1980s, when my children were born, and then, in the mid-1990s, joined CEG London, where I became seduced by the magic of doll-making.
I realised their potential as a canvas for almost any type of stitchery, and I continue to use that excuse for anything new I learn. What can I say ?

Name Nancy Kinsman
Nickname njk
Location Stoney Creek, Ontario
Interests My stitching interests range from mostly historical to traditional. At the moment stumpwork and beading are my private interests.
Comments I am lucky to be able to quilt and embroider at work. As a interpreter at Black Creek Pioneer Village I am Mrs. Stong in the large red house. At the village we have what we call productions - a half hour or so talk/demonstration of various activities. These are scheduled on the list of activities , and I do the :
  • Quilting Production :  on a huge antique quilting frame that takes up half the parlour.
  • Victorian Needlework :  Most of my stitching efforts in the last few years have been focused on making the samples and some works for sale. Hope to post photos someday.
  • Victorian Needlework :  Most of my stitching efforts in the last few years have been focused on making the samples and some works for sale. Hope to post photos someday.
  • Lace making :  (or as I call it Needlework Part Two - Lacemaking;  to be started 2002, we hope)
  • Butter Churning

When not interpreting these things, I do what I think a farm wife in the 19th century does :   cooks on the open hearth, entertains her guests, herds sheep when necessary and keeps the children from running amok in the house. Mrs. Stong had eight children presumably all well behaved and with impeccable manners that today's children must emulate.
