Report - January, 2012

Threadworks 2010 Trees exhibit at the Station Gallery was a truly inspirational road trip experience for members of EGP in November. We all had personal favourites as we examined and re-examined the various pieces. Artists' work covered every theme imaginable, and then some! And just as many techniques, backgrounds, fabrics, textures, threads, sizes, and designs. Many had seen the exhibit before and others returned bringing family and friends. If you haven't yet seen it, check the schedule on line. It's worth travelling to!

At our November meeting we presented our first finished post card pieces of our Water theme. Most of us experimented with a technique we hadn't tried before. Each member described the planning, process, tries and retries. And the frustrations! Our next post card is due at the January meeting.

In the colour and design portion of our program we are all making pies. Yes, pies! We were each given a piece of muslin with a large pie drawn on, and divided in six. After a mini lesson, we are encouraged to use a new technique, stitch, or colour scheme as homework towards a wonderful, fanciful pie!

On December 14 we wrapped up our fall session with our annual Christmas pot luck and Star exchange . . . good food, good cheer and amazing stars once again.
