OAKVILLE STITCHERY GUILD
Submitted by Mary Clark, Past President
Report - January, 2012
This year, the Oakville Stitchery Guild resumed its meetings in September at Sybil Rampen's beautiful Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre.
We had a fabulous two-day workshop in October with Sandra Meech. Sandra prepared and presented a customized workshop for us, combining her Cutting Edge and Art of Stitch techniques, which was very well received.
In October, Diane Smith led a hands-on meeting where she taught us how to make small journals, and customize them for greeting cards or booklets.
In November, Dwayne Wanner presented a trunk show of his fabulous quilts. Dwayne brings beautiful colour and texture to his work, and he also discussed his techniques after the presentation. Please check out his work at www.dfwannerquilts.com/dfwannerquilts.com/Welcome.html
In January, Ixchel Suarez, the internationally renowned tapestry artist will present her beautiful tapestries! Many of us have seen her amazing tapestry work before, when she was our resident artist at Joshua Creek Studio last year. Have a look at http://ixchelsuarez.com/home.html
We are excited to be having a workshop by Nancy Yule in March. Nancy is a well known textile artist who has participated in many shows including One of a Kind and Hard Twist 6 Obsession. She will teach eco-friendly techniques and we all look forward to this workshop. You can see her work at www.nancyyule.com/Home.html
In addition, the Spring 2012 issue of A Needle Pulling Thread will feature our Secret Sister challenge from last year. Please have a look.
Display at the ONN Annual General Meeting (London) - 12 May, 2011.
