KINGSTON FIBRE ARTISTS
Submitted by Sylvia Naylor, ONN Representative
Report - January, 2012
The Kingston Fibreartists are a small group of about 16 artists. I say about, because one of our longer serving members, Tina Barnes, has had to leave the group because of too many personal commitments. As you know a piece of fibre art often takes a great deal of time to complete. Unfortunately several skilled artists have had to leave the group in the last few years because of time constraints. We have invited other wonderful textile artists to fill the gaps.
In April 2012 our annual show in the Kingston Public Library will be reduced in size because only the foyer is available and so we have decided to have another show, in a new venue for us, at The Kingston School of Art October 21 - December 1. Our shows reflect the diverse talents and interests of our members new and old.
We meet in the evening, once a month, for a general meeting and then once a month for a Stitch Day. For the last year we have chosen a discussion topic with which to round off the meetings. This has often lead to a lively debate with many points of view.
Our final meeting of this year will be a potluck at the home of a member. We look forward to seeing some of our past members at this time and look forward to another year of creativity.
