We accepted some members this fall and are looking forward to the increased energy that comes with new faces and fresh ideas.
Our recent show in British Columbia was a success, but also a bit of an eye opening venture, as we all had to pack and ship our work across country. It was a good reminder of meeting deadlines, packing, sourcing the most secure and economical shipping choices and then allowing adequate delivery times. Personally I've decided that my next piece which has to be shipped across country (and home again) will not weigh 30 lbs.!
Another exhibition, 'Fibre Optix', will remain hung in the Orillia Museum of Art and History until January. A number of members made the long drive to attend that opening in October.
This fall, five of our members participated in a week long workshop with Australian textile artist, India Flint. She felts and eco dyes with windfall leaves and plants. We had a fabulous time and all of us intend to continue with more experimenting. Her exciting work can be seen on her website or her blog . . . www.indiaflint.com/
The group is currently debating the pros and cons of a group website versus a blog and trying to decide which will work best for the group. Two members are currently working on a new blog site for us. We'd love you to take a look at : http://connectionsfibreartists.blogspot.com
