Annual Report - April, 2012
The Association for Whitework Embroidery continues to meet two days each month at the Simcoe County Museum.
Recently members completed the following projects :
- the Italian Drawn Thread "Seminar Essentials" designed by Barbara Kershaw,
a set of smalls including a carry bag, needlebook, scissor case, scissor fob, pincushion and ort bag;
- a Hedebo needlecase designed by Jette Roy Finlay-Heath;
- a Norwegian geometric sampler with 25 different pulled thread stitches;
- a Sylvia Murariu design in bright colours, a contemporary piece that incorporates the
traditional whitework technique, Romanian Point Lace, and
- various biscornus and scissor fobs in various whitework techniques.
In March we turn to a style of Italian work known as Punto Antico. We will do a small piece designed by Jeanine Robertson as our introduction to this beautiful Italian whitework. We hope that sometime we will find classes or courses offered so that we can learn the more challenging aspects of Punto Antico.
In April some members will begin another lovely embroidery, a pulled thread project designed by Barbara Kershaw. Others will continue with projects of their choice.
