Four, one-day-a-week Workshops with Jane Dams, Artist Teacher Consultant
"How to Create Impact in Textile Design - Stitch, Colour and Texture "
Designed to challenge and encourage the participants into areas that go beyond their normal practice in the field of contemporary stitched textiles. During this period of exploration and discovery we will concentrate on two design elements Colour and Texture. Particular emphasis will be on colour, in an attempt to discover new innovative colour combinations and to uncover the personal, emotional and impressionistic aspects of colour.
The design exercises will lead to an intensive study of thread, background surface, and stitch (both hand and machine depending on what the participant is comfortable with) in the form of experimental samplers. We will exploit both material and process to discover or rediscover new applications.
The result of this workshop is a notebook of new stitch and design exercises geared to develop design and drawing skills as well as stimulate the imagination. A range of samples will be produced that will undoubtedly act as inspiration for future work. All levels of experience.
Location : Jane’s Studio, 2 Cummings Court, Guelph
Time : 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
Morning coffee and a light Lunch is included in the fee.
