FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello everyone -

Wishing you all a Happy New Year - let's all hope it's going to be a good one. Of course, it's also a Leap Year, so you have one extra day to get caught up on a few projects.

At time of writing, it's rather cold (-15C), sunny and quite bare - unlike everyone living west of Toronto, who are fighting some bad winter weather. These are the days to get comfortable in a nice chair and wield a needle - that's what I'm doing.

In November my Guild event organizers served us all with a Brown Bag containing fabrics, threads, beads, buttons and the request to "make something for exchange at the Christmas luncheon". This is NOT my thing.

However, I struggled on and made a telephone / eyeglass bag with beaded flowers, a beaded Christmas card, a beaded bookmark, a Biscornu and a needle case, and served it up with a little prose about my struggle.

The recipient, of course, was the lady considered one of the best beaders in my Guild. I may need some future lessons!!!

However, not to be daunted by this "challenge" I am hoping to get started on something for the next Threadworks (2013 - "Water") Show. I hope you are all thinking likewise.
