EDITORIAL and NEWSLETTERS

August 2010

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

Hello everyone -

I do hope you are enjoying the summer - hot (and wet) as it has been - I'm predicting an early winter. The squirrels are already hoarding peanuts, and the Chestnut trees are bowing down with the clusters of nuts - and it's only still July !!!

Again I had a UK visitor, so did the "tourist" tour. I thoroughly enjoyed the break and seeing bits of Ontario I wouldn't probably normally drive out to see.

My sad news, my Puss Cat of 18 years is no longer keeping me company at the computer; he had rather a sad ending (heart failure) on July 2. (No, I will not be taking on another one).

For those of you who attended "Threadworks 2010 - Trees" - what a Show!! Being a Judge would be a real challenge, but everything would not have gone so well without the hard-working team of Directors and volunteers, under the guidance of Elizabeth Duggan-Litch. Congratulations to everyone!!

Right after the Threadworks opening, we had a really great ONN Annual General Meeting in Guelph which went extremely well. The CD case Challenge made a wonderful exhibit attracting lots of viewers, and the day ended with some interesting Workshop tips that you had to be there to benefit from.

We are losing Simcoe County Embroidery Guild this coming Season, but are gaining The Trillium Embroidery Guild of Whitby, (we've missed you the last 2 years!) and are throwing out the red carpet for a new Guild - The Group of Eight Fibre Arts of Milton. The "G8" ladies are into Fibre Arts, so look for their news (inside).

TEACHER LISTING - The updated list is available on the web site at :
http://www.onnguilds.ca/profiles/teachers_2009-10_web.pdf
I'm also asking the Teachers to look at the web site and see how current their information reads, so this list can be completely revised.
In the meantime, are there any new Teachers out there, whom we should be adding to our list ? Have them send in their details for addition to the listing on the web pages.

ONN REPS -
Please circulate this to your Members or place a copy in your Library.
Make an announcement to your Guild of any items (workshops, seminars, shows, etc.,) that may be of interest.
